Are you qualified in HACCP and food science? Do you love quality assurance and quality control? We have a short term assignment for an experience food lab technician at a local food manufacturing plant.

  • 6-8 week full time assignment with potential for ongoing work
  • Great casual pay rate of $29.37/hour plus shift penalties and paid meal breaks
  • Rapidly growing food manufacturing plant based in Rutherford

Our client is a food manufacturer based at Rutherford and going through an exciting growth period. This short-term role is an excellent springboard to bring your knowledge and skills to hit the ground running quickly. Your ability to make a great first impression during this assignment could see you gain ongoing work.We are looking for dedicated, safety focused people that want to be a part of something fresh

As Lab Technologist / QA you will:

• Assist with QA & QC requirements of a food production facility and quality control lab
• Have an understanding of Basic Chemistry, Microbiological & Organoleptic Testing
• Assist customers with quality enquiries
• Perform root cause analysis
• Assist with Internal & External Audits
• Maintain the cleanliness of the lab
• Work with production team to ensure quality

Working within fast moving food production facility the highest priorities will be:

• Safety
• Food Safety
• HACCP
• Quality Assurance
• FSANZ, GMP & VITAL
• Ensuring Hygiene standards are maintained

To be eligible for this short term role you will need:
• Bachelor Degree in Food Science with QA elective qualifications or TAFE equivalent qualifications
• Certified in HACCAP
• An Engineering background would be suitable but not required
• Attitude and ability to learn are critical in this role.
• It is important you can work as part of the overall production team but also imperative that you can work within the lab independently

Whilst there will certainly be aspects of account management included in the role – the company seek a true business to business Salesperson, who loves the challenge of introducing a product to a largely untapped market.

You will be supported from the top down with direct one-to-one sales coaching available by one of the best in the business, right through to superb administration support from a motivated and capable assistant to help you take care of all those “details” and allow you to continue to apply your talent to the bigger picture of capturing leads and making sales!

Some of the employer wish list items include: 

  • Demonstrated ability to understand a technical product. You will be selling a highly technical and innovative product
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to actively listen and the confidence to “close the sale”
  • The ability to map your market, identify leads and “go get ’em”
  • The desire and ability to work autonomously (post training period) managing your time and your customers with minimal supervision
  • The desire and availability to travel – extensively – throughout Australia on a regular basis
  • A high degree of motivation and ambition to succeed and achieve personal and company goals
  • Energy, enthusiasm and a great sense of humour would also be well regarded!
  • Ideally you will come from an Engineering or technical background in some capacity, or be able to adequately demonstrate your capability in that regard

This highly autonomous role presents a truly great opportunity for an experienced individual with an appropriate background, to combine their mechanical aptitude and people skills, in a unique and interesting role.
